JADE of the NIGHT

The inspiration for this piece came from my experiences growing up in China, especially from watching television programs and attending karaoke nights as a kid where my mother and her friends would gather around a television screen and sing along to music videos from the 80s and 90s.

This project follows the story of two teenagers in suburban America determined to travel to New York City, only to find that dreams don't always come true, and just because you love a person doesn’t mean they’re right for you. 

Their story is shown on a CRT TV in the center of the piece. The set-up of the installation mimics a motel room.
